Transport

General

The planned transport of storage units within the warehouse is carried out via the transfer orders that are generated by the system. As a rule, the source and destination storage location as well as the storage unit are exactly stored in a transfer order.

Exception

When storing SUs with identical stock qualifications (item number, batch, special stock number, quantity, …) in a block storage bin, the so-called “random access” is necessary because the position of a particular SU in the block is not known. The employee may then pick up any storage unit at the source storage location during retrieval.

The transport orders are assigned to a category depending on the process. The Transport orders form displays the number of open transport orders on the button of each category. By pressing a button, the employee decides which transport orders he or she will process.

Alternatively, he/she can scan the barcode of an SU to display an associated transport order. If no transfer order exists for the SU, the message “No transfer order item for storage unit ” is displayed.
